創作背景

2004

Melanie為了成立自己的獨立公司Red Girl Records費了很大的功夫。沒有重要的公司靠山，她的活動都得靠自己的存款，除了她的生意夥伴和經理Nancy Phillips。

2005

在2005年4月，Melanie推出了她的第三張專輯《Beautiful Intentions》（中譯《戀愛美人計》）。被選作這張專輯的首張單曲的是Adam Argyle寫的《Next Best Superstar》，它在英國，歐洲和澳大利亞同時發行。這隻單曲在英國拿到了第10位，並且在德國的Radio Airplay榜上在冠軍的位置上停留了好幾周。 然後第二單曲《Better Alone》發行，但後來只能從iTunes Store（數位下載）和她的官方網上商店上購買。在2006年時，Melanie在德國，澳大利亞和瑞士還有其他的一些歐洲國家發行單曲《Better Alone》。 這張專輯的第三單曲是《First Day of My Life》，Melanie在之前從沒發行過的跟Guy Chambers和Enrique Iglesias一起創作的歌曲。《First Day of My Life》在西班牙，波蘭，德國，瑞典，澳大利亞，瑞士和葡萄牙等國家都拿到了冠軍這隻單曲成為了2005年時在歐洲的最佳單曲之一，但是卻由始至終都沒有在英國發行。專輯《Beautiful Intentions》在國，瑞士，澳大利亞都過了金銷售證明，而在葡萄牙則通過了白金銷售量證明（《Beautiful Intentions》在葡萄牙有九周都是冠軍的位置）。

Melanie Jayne Chisholm（也被稱為Melanie C或是Mel C）是一位英國的創作型歌手，也曾是舉世聞名的五人合唱團Spice Girls（辣妹）的其中一名成員，那時她被稱呼成Spoty Spice。在Spice Girls解散後單飛，她已經推出過了四張專輯，還曾在全英音樂獎和ECHO（德國的音樂獎）中被提名。
