獅門影業公司 (Lions Gate Films)
弗蘭克．古斯塔（Frank Giustra）一個加拿大本地的銀行家，１９９７年一手建立了獅門影業．那時的他希望投資蒸蒸日上的電影業．公司初期購買了許多小型的生產設備和發行商，其中包括在蒙特婁的Cinepix Film Productions or CFP.
它第一部獲得商業成功的影片是美國精神病人(American Psycho).從而開始了它在美國主流影界的爭議之旅．旗下另外值得注意的影片還有《男人最痛》(Affliction)《諸神與魔鬼》(Gods and Monsters)《怒犯天條》Dogma(1999)和由麥可·摩爾 Michael Moore指導的紀錄片《華氏911》(Fahrenheit 9/11)這部影片無疑讓獅門達到又一高峰。
獅門（現在被稱為一個字） ，聯合米高梅和維亞康姆，將推出一個新的收費電視電影頻道，這將挑戰競爭對手HBO和Showtime電視台。
古斯塔以他家鄉溫哥華的著名地標性橋樑，連線市中心到北岸的獅門大橋命名了該公司。但他的公司卻與這座大橋毫無關係。它第一個總部是在現已不復存在的活洛杉磯電影工作室和生產公司（於９０年代由電影製作人羅伯特。阿爾特曼經營）。巧合的是舊主阿爾特曼１９６９年在溫哥華獅門拍攝他獨俱風格的一部電影 《待嫁女兒心》（That Cold Day in the Park）
