英國著名歷史學家、古典學家和文獻學家伯里（又譯柏立，布瑞）John Bagnell Bury

生平
伯里出生和成長在Clontibret, County Monaghan,他的父親是愛爾蘭聖公會校長。他先受教於父母，然後在Derry的福伊爾學院和都柏林的三一學院上學，在那裡他於1882年畢業，
1885年24歲的時候成為該學院的研究員。1893年擔任三一學院現代歷史講座的主席。他在這個職位上講授了8年。1898年他被任命為三一學院的欽定希臘文教授。這個職務與他的歷史教授職務同時進行。1902年他成為劍橋大學的欽定現代歷史教授。
