I read the twelfth to sixth paragraph. This is the first sentence. Another group of showoffs-much more sympathetic types-are showoffs who are basically insrcure. It means another group of showoffs are much more sympathetic types. Here “types” means “members of an indicated class or variety”.
We are filled with admiration, with astonishment, with awe. I am not familiar with the word “astonishment, awe”. So I look them up then know the meanings. When we are much surprised at something or admiresomeone, we can use these words. What’s more, this sentence is a parallel sentences. So the style is complex and colorful. We can use parallel sentence in our essay.
What can we learn from the lady? In my opinion, we’d better make modest remarks when we have acquired some achievement. There are many people who are much more successful than us. We should not be self-satisfied with the little success.
