CPCI

Compact PCI(Compact Peripheral Component Interconnect)簡稱CPCI,中文又稱緊湊型PCI,是國際工業計算機製造者聯合會(PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturer's Group,簡稱PICMG)於1994提出來的一種匯流排接口標準。是以PCI電氣規範為標準的高性能工業用匯流排。CPCI的CPU及外設同標準PCI是相同的,並且CPCI系統使用與傳統PCI系統相同的晶片、防火牆和相關軟體。從根本上說,它們是一致的,因此作業系統、驅動和應用程式都感覺不到兩者的區別,將一個標準PCI插卡轉化成CPCI插卡幾乎不需重新設計,只要物理上重新分配一下即可。為了將PCI SIG的PCI匯流排規範用在工業控制計算機系統,1995年11月PCI工業計算機製造者聯合會(PICMIG)頒布了CPCI規範1.0版,以後相繼推出了PCI-PCI Bridge規範、Computer Telephony TDM規範和User-defined I/O pin assignment規範。簡言之CPCI匯流排 = PCI匯流排的電氣規範 + 標準針孔連線器(IEC-1076-4-101) + 歐洲卡規範(IEC297/IEEE 1011.1)。

區別

·耐用性

從傳統工業PC系統上更換一塊板卡常常是相當耗時的;用戶需鬆開並移去機箱蓋。由於板卡與外圍設備之間可能會有一些內部連線電纜。而換卡時必須將這些連線斷開,因此這一過程是很容易出錯的。所以在耐用方面,傳統工業PC系統無法做到象Compact PCI系統這樣簡潔而高效。

另一方面,Compact

PCI設計可以從前面板拔插板卡。更換Compact PCI板卡非常簡單,無需拆下機箱蓋。此外,由於I/O接線都是通過後面板,前面的Compact PCI板卡上沒有任何連線,因此更換板卡非常快捷簡便。維修時間將會從小時級(傳統工業PC)縮減為分鐘級,從而縮短了MTTR(平均維修時間)。

·抗震性

傳統工業PC不能對系統中的外圍設備板卡提供可靠而安全的支持,插與其中的板卡只能固定於一點。卡的頂端和底部也沒有導軌支持,因此卡與槽的連線處也容易在震動中接觸不良。Compact PCI卡牢牢地固定在機箱上,頂端和底部均有導軌支持。前面板緊固裝置將前面板與周圍的機架安全地固定在一起。卡與槽的連線部分通過針孔連線器緊密地連線。由於卡的四面均將其牢牢地固定在其位置上,因此即使在劇烈的衝擊和震動場合,也能保證持久連線而不會接觸不良。

·通風性

傳統的工業PC機箱內空氣流動不暢,不能有效散熱。空氣流動因為無源底版、板卡支架和磁碟驅動器所阻塞。冷空氣不能在所有板卡間循環流動,熱空氣也不能立即排出機箱外。電子設備和電路板會因這些冷卻問題而損壞,使之變形,斷線以及壽命短等。Compact PCI系統為系統中所有發熱板卡提供了順暢的散熱路徑。冷空氣可以隨意在板卡間流動,並將熱量帶走。集成在板卡底部的風扇系統也加速了散熱進程。由於良好的機械設計帶來通暢的散熱途徑,Compact PCI系統極少出現散熱方面的問題。

套用

CPCI所具有高開放性、高可靠性、可熱插拔(Hot Swap),使該技術除了可以廣泛套用在通訊、網路、計算機電話整和(Computer Telephony),也適合實時系統控制(Real Time Machine Control)、產業自動化、實時數據採集(Real-Time Data Acquisition)、軍事系統等需要高速運算、智慧型交通、航空航天、醫療器械、水利等模組化及高可靠度、可長期使用的套用領域。由於CPCI擁有較高的頻寬,它也適用於一些高速數據通信的套用,包括伺服器、路由器、交換機等。
