此曲由 Hedy West創作。迄今為止，如果 beatles的《 yesterday》是被翻唱次數最多的獨唱歌曲的話，這首《500 miles》，則完全有可能是被翻唱次數最多的重唱歌曲。最為出名的就是Peter, Paul & Mary（ 三重唱組合）和The brothers four（ 四重唱組合）的演繹，他們和Joan baez(代表作為那首著名的“donna donna”)是美國60年代民歌運動的重要代表。他們歌曲的共同風格就是旋律優美，自然清新，同時又富有哲理，幾十年來被人們傳唱，經久不衰。大家可以把The brothers four、Peter,Paul&Mary（PP&M）、The Journeymen、the Innocence Mission的風格作個比較。

500 miles“The Journeymen”樂隊是由——Johnny Cash，Willie Nelson，Waylon Jennings，Kris Kristofferson，這四位鄉村樂壇巨星組成的。
the brothers four - 500 miles
The Brothers Four（四兄弟演唱組）是 美國老牌 民謠樂隊之一，成立於50年代末，比Beatles出名還要早。這個樂隊由四個 華盛頓大學的學生Bob Flick,John Paine,Mike Kirkand,Dick Foley組成。樂隊一組就是四十多年，唱的一直都是傳統的通俗民謠 “四兄弟”合唱團的音樂大多以原聲木吉他、木貝司、班卓琴、曼駝林伴奏，並配以完美的四個聲部和音。
Peter,Paul&Mary - 500 miles
Peter,Paul & Mary（彼得、保羅和瑪麗）這支 美國最傑出的民謠三重唱組合，他們早在上世紀60年代就已經享譽世界了。三位成員分別是Peter Yarrow（男歌手兼吉他手）、 Paul Stookey（男歌手兼吉他手）和Mary Travers（女歌手）。他們唱自己的歌，也唱Bob Dylan、Joan Baez、Pete Seeger（The Weavers即著名的“紡織工”四人合唱團的主將）等民謠大師的作品。他們組建於加州，純淨的歌聲和典雅的和聲，使民謠的魅力為更廣泛的聽眾意識和接受。他們經常翻唱著名民謠歌手的作品，使得那些歌曲讓更多的人們所熟悉，如Bob Dylan、Simon & Garfunkel、John Denver等等。起初 一直走著翻唱路線的他們，其實也有著相當強大的作曲實力。自1962年出版發行了第一張同名專集以後，幾乎每年都有新專集發表。直到1971年解散
相信大家最關注的是，他們為何在事業高峰期拆夥，八年後又重組。Paul表示，自推出首張唱片後，立刻名列 美國流行榜首位，接著的十年中，三人一直為事業忙碌，所以在七十年代決定放一個“學習假期”，利用空閒時間充實自己，加上Paul當時要照顧生了一對雙胞胎的太太和打理牧場。後來在一次聚會中，三人發覺對音樂仍然充滿熱愛，故決定重組繼續展開音樂之旅，至今日，這三位好拍檔仍在努力中, 不幸的是mary於2009年9月16日患白血病離世。
the Innocence Mission-500 miles
樂團的中心成員是Karen Peris與Don Peris。他們是一對相識於天主教高中唱詩班的夫妻檔。主唱的女聲，由於是出自唱詩班， 聲音的清澈不亞於森林中的一眼清泉。
他們演唱的500 miles 被收錄在專輯《Christ Is My Hope》中。
