1987年7月畢業於河北大學生物學系，獲得學士學位，同年分配到中國科學院石家莊農業現代化所（現在的農業資源研究中心）工作至今。曾經在澳大利亞CSIRO、西澳大學和日本國立環境研究所訪問。
