霍普金斯扮演的漢尼拔從聲音到眼神都散發出一種難以言傳的磁力，他有一種特殊的處理台詞方法，尤其把每句話的最後一個音節變得玩味無窮。跟漢尼拔相比，克拉麗斯的“魅力”要遜好幾籌，原因是所有主角都有幾分“藝術化”，而她卻是寫實的。漢尼拔不忍心傷害她，而她也在千鈞一髮之際救他於危難。他們之間有一種惺惺相惜的情感，離正常的男女之情只差了一步。影片的構圖、鏡頭調度、色彩的使用(尤其是藍色和深紅色)均屬一流，華麗得讓人覺得若把台詞改成詠嘆調這便是一部現成的歌劇。
