從小喜愛武術，17歲前往日本研習日本柔道等武術，後回美國。80年代初期，在新墨西哥州及洛杉磯開設道館，87年進入電影界，開始拍片。在完成《熱血高手》、《法律之上》、《死亡標記》等幾部影片之後，已被影評家認為是繼查理士、布朗遜、羅禮士、李小龍之後，最具潛力的動作片明星。他自己創辦了巨浪影片公司，先後完成了影片《在圍攻下》（1992）、《置於死地》（1994）等。
