開明第三英文讀本

《開明英文讀本》共三冊,是民國時期極為暢銷的一套英文教材,林語堂編,豐子愷繪插圖,1928年開明書店初版,暢銷二十幾年,與《開明活頁文選》、《開明算學教本》並稱“開明三大教本”。 作者林語堂深諳中英文,熟稔中西文化,因此這套教材的編寫與眾不同。教材自第一冊到第三冊難度遞增,從最基礎的字母、音標開始,進入對話、單句、短文,最後是長篇故事,其中穿插辭彙、語法的講解運用,是一套較為全面的英語教材。教授方法也別具一格,從簡單日常生活入手,但並不是日常生活的簡單演繹,而是通過聯想、想像拓展英語的運用,很符合孩子的思維習慣,又能鍛鍊孩子想像力與創造力。第一讀本編入十多首英國兒歌。第二、第三讀本則以短、長篇文章為主,內容多選自中外經典故事,如《論語》、《史記》、《安徒生童話》、《希臘神話》等,使得這套教材有著非同一般的文化含量。 原書三冊採用音標並不統一,今都按現行國際音標改正,採用英式發音。 本套教材適合國小高年級及中學生使用。

作者簡介

林語堂(1895-1976),中國現代著名學者、文學家、語言學家。福建龍溪人(今漳州市)。美國哈佛大學文學碩士,德國萊比錫大學語言學博士,曾任北京大學教授、北京女子師範大學教務長和英文系主任、廈門大學文學院院長、聯合國教科文組織美術與文學主任等職。其文化著作及長篇小說《吾國與吾民》、《風聲鶴唳》、《孔子的智慧》、《生活的藝術》、《京華煙雲》皆用英文寫成,是我國現代兼具深厚中國古典文學功底與很高英文造詣的大家。
豐子愷(1898—1975),漢族,浙江崇德(今桐鄉)人。中國現代畫家、散文家、美術教育家、音樂教育家、漫畫家和翻譯家,是一位卓有成就的文藝大師,是中國引進“漫畫”概念的第一人。
