氟乙酸甲酯 用途一：用作醫藥、農藥、染料中間體。
用途二：氟乙酸甲酯為生產氟啶酸、環丙氟啶酸、5-氟尿嘧啶、氟苷、喃氟啶、雙呋啶5-氟-4-羥基嘧啶等藥物的基本原料，也是農藥、香料中間體。用途三：氟乙酸甲酯為生產氟啶酸、環丙氟啶酸、5-氟尿嘧啶、氟苷、喃氟啶、雙呋啶、5-氟-4-羥基嘧啶等藥物的基本原料。
中毒機理
氟乙酸甲酯有毒是氟（F）取代了乙酸（CH3COOH）中的甲基（CH3-）的一個氫（H），形成氟乙酸（FCH2COOH）。而氟乙酸甲酯（FCH2COOCH3）可以看成是氟乙酸（FCH2COOH）和甲醇（CH3OH），酯化而得。
FCH2COO-基團中的F有很強的親電性（跟電子結合的能力），因此它的反應性很強，而蛋白質中的氨基，有很多大的活性，易被氧化。所以，氟乙酸甲酯可以跟蛋白質反應，而使蛋白質變性，所以，由氟乙酸甲酯製成的藥，大多都是抗菌、抗腫瘤、抗癌的，也能製作農藥。
有毒快遞
2013年11月29日，家住東營廣饒縣大王鎮居民劉興亮收到一圓通快件，是其從淘寶網聚划算購買的一雙兒童鞋，在打開包裹幾小時後，劉先生出現嘔吐、腹痛等症狀，12點多家人趕緊將他送進東營市第二人民醫院，近3個小時的搶救未見效果，醫院稱分析不出病情原因。下午3點多，劉先生轉入濱州醫院附屬醫院，29日劉先生因搶救無效死亡，醫院出示診斷死因為有毒化學液體氟乙酸甲酯中毒。
