Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary.
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door--
Only this, and nothing more."
Ah, distinctly I Remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; -vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow(1)-sorrow for the lost Lenore-
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore-
Nameless here for evermore
And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me-filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
" ' Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door-
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;-

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
"Sir," said I, "or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you"--here I opened wide the door;-
Darkness there, and nothing more.
Deep into that darkness Peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore!"
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, " Lenore! " -
Merely this, and nothing more.
Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
"Surely," said I, "surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore-
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-
'Tis the wind, and nothing more! "
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter.
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not an instant stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door-
Perched upon a bust of Pallas(2) just above my chamber door-
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night ' s Plutonian shore!(3) "

Much I marveled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning-little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no sublunary being (4)
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door-

With such mime as "Nevermore. "
But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered- not a feather then he fluttered-
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before-
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. "

Wondering at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
"doubtless," said I, "what it utters is its only stock and store(5),"
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful Disaster

On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamplight gloated o'er,

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
swung by angels whose faint foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
"Wretch," I cried, "thy God hath lent thee-by these angels he hath sent

Respite-respite and Nepenthe(6) from thy memories of Lenore!
Let me quaff this kind Nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!"
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore. "
"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil! -prophet still, if bird or devil! -
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate, yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted-
On this home by Horror haunted-tell me truly, I implore-
Is there-is there balm in Gilead?(7)-tell me-tell me, I implore!"

烏鴉
從前一個陰鬱的子夜，我獨自沉思，慵懶疲竭，
沉思許多古怪而離奇、早已被人遺忘的傳聞——
當我開始打盹，幾乎入睡，突然傳來一陣輕擂，
仿佛有人在輕輕叩擊，輕輕叩擊我的房門。
“有人來了，”我輕聲嘟喃，“正在叩擊我的房門——
唯此而已，別無他般。”
喔，我清楚地記得那是在蕭瑟的十二月；
每一團奄奄一息的餘燼都形成陰影伏在地板。
我當時真盼望翌日；——因為我已經枉費心機
想用書來消除悲哀——消除因失去麗諾爾的悲嘆——
因那被天使叫作麗諾爾的少女，她美麗嬌艷——
在這兒卻默默無聞，直至永遠。

動畫人物
美國業餘漫畫家Roman Dirge根據詩歌《lenore》為靈感源泉創作的漫畫《lenore,the cute little dead girl》里的十歲女主角lenore,原型是《亞當斯一家》里的Wednessday。
擁有不死之身，哥德式黑色幽默、黑色童話風。
近日，Roman Dirge有望與尼爾·蓋曼攜手將《lenore》製成電影搬上銀幕，具體情況待定。美國sony公司曾有過電影版計畫，不過被Roman Dirge拒絕了，便製作了26集的flash短片。
《lenore,the cute little dead girl》（簡稱《lenore》）
登場角色：
Lenore是一個10歲的不死亡靈小女孩，死於肺炎。她和她怪異的朋友們一起住在一個大別墅里。第14期里透露了關於她身前的故事。早期漫畫裡Lenore的性格有些邪惡。會抱著復仇的想法去傷害他人。之後的設定變成了因為”不小心”而殺人。認定Lenore一般來說完全不會注意她周圍的狀況。她甚至連自己已經死了的這件事都不知道。Lenore說她很喜歡小動物 (特別是貓) ， 但是她總會殺掉自己的寵物。
之後Lenore莫名地變回了早期的設定，她又開始故意傷害周圍的人。比如說第9期里Lenore用各種名字來罵ragamuffin，13期里她承認了自己真正的夢想是統治世界。Lenore常常會露出享受他人受折磨的樣子。殺人的時候她總是笑著，並且手段非常殘忍，特別是在她不高興或者生氣的時候。
Lenore說的和做的事情一般都沒有什麼意義。這讓她的同伴Ragamuffin感到很煩。Ragamuffin認為她是個笨蛋，叫她“頭腦很特別”。儘管這樣，沒有人很清楚Lenore是不是真的笨蛋。她極有可能是故意裝成笨蛋來惹Ragamuffin，因為有時她會露出很聰明的一面。
死神把她帶到陰間後，她在Ragamuffin的幫助下逃出了陰間並且回到了活人的世界。(是Ragamuffin把她挖出來的) 從地獄回來後，她背後長出了一雙黑色的翅膀。她不會讓任何人看她的翅膀，除非她想自願地想給對方看。
在第9期里，她試著告訴Ragamuffin他是她最好的朋友。但是Ragamuffin為了殺在啃Lenore額頭的蟲子而打斷了她的話。
Ragamuffin
Ragamuffin是個有著蟲子頭髮和滌綸填充的破布娃娃。但他有一個非常有趣的故事和性格。Ragamuffin曾今是個400歲的吸血鬼。某個晚上，他吃掉了一個年輕的女子，不巧的是這女子的姐姐是一個非常厲害的巫女。他被巫女施了魔法，變成了一個玩偶。Lenore的一滴血讓他清醒了過來，不過身上的詛咒只消失了一部分，因為Lenore的血里滲著防腐液體。他將永遠不可能回到吸血鬼的樣子。在第11期的最後他變回了過去的樣子，在12期最後一格里又變回了破布娃娃。
Ragamuffin有些不是很肯定Lenore瘋狂的想法們。就算如此，Ragamuffin對Lenore依然十分忠誠。在動畫裡Ragamuffin一般都會參加並且幫Lenore完成她的計畫。他會因為Lenore笨拙的行為而經常地發怒。但在最後又會和Lenore和好如初。像在第13期里，Lenore叫Ragamuffin當她的小孩，雖然他做出了很多抵抗，最後還是讓Lenore用奶瓶餵他牛奶。
Ragamuffin對Lenore的保護意識在逐漸增加。在第12期里，變回吸血鬼的他依舊待在Lenore的身邊，幫她打倒來自地獄的納粹殭屍。在同一期里，當Mr.gosh打擾到Lenore的時候，Ragamuffin便立即威脅Mr.Gosh吃掉自己的腸子。當Lenore生病的時候，他會非常擔心，帶她去看醫生。在Lenore's last (Part 2 ) 里當Lenore死第二次的時候，Ragamuffin十分震驚以及傷心。從這些行動里可以看出來他把自己看做是Lenore的家長。此推測在在Pooty Applewater的信里 (第13期) 被確定了。為了保護Lenore，他告訴她不能和Puff-Puff Midget (自稱Ragamuffin) 在一起。在第9期里，當Lenore被摘掉面具的Mr.Gosh吸引的時候，Ragamuffin看起來十分受傷，然後告訴Lenore自己也是有感情的。
遊戲角色
有一個根據Ragamuffin而製作的新遊戲，他在遊戲裡的角色就是Lenore的拯救者。Mr. Gosh(Gosh先生)
Mr. Gosh是一個有著扣子眼睛，人類大小的襪子木偶。他其實是一個用袋子把頭遮住的死人。雖然被Lenore殺掉過很多次，他依舊很瘋狂的愛著Lenore。Mr.Gosh總會從墳墓里爬出來並且復活，據說是因為他原諒殺掉他的Lenore (他認為Lenore是不小心的) 在Lenore的一群朋友里他是最不受歡迎的一個，特別是Ragamuffin。Lenore對Mr.Gosh重複的屠殺包括著名的“割草機事件”。在Mr.Gosh向Lenore求婚後，她開始用割草機不停地碾Mr.Gosh (根據Mr.Gosh，共記164次) 。他一些其他的死法/傷害包括：中毒，被火燒，被用鏟子打得粉身碎骨，有6次腦袋被刺，還有腦袋爆炸。即使如此他還依然愛著Lenore。在他的袋子被Pooty摘下來的時候，Lenore其實被他的真面目吸引了。當Lenore發現他其實是Mr.Gosh的時候，他的心徹底碎了。他的頭其實早已腐爛，除了Lenore以外的人看見都會嘔吐。她覺得沒有袋子在頭上的Mr.Gosh更加帥氣。這可能是Mr.Gosh真實的摸樣，也可能是因為“割草機事件”才變成這副摸樣的。
taxidermy
Taxidermy 是Lenore有著奇怪長相的鄰居。他對自己長相的解釋為“醫療中的狀態。 根據他的名字(動物標本剝製術)，他是一個穿著一身西服，高高瘦瘦的鹿。他有著一個被縫上去的頭，手是蹄子。之後他成為了一個用腐爛鹿皮作為頭的人類。這個形象在動畫裡也保留了。雖然他的長相非常的糟糕和可怕，Taxidermy是本作中最善良和聰明的角色。他有一隻叫做Malakai的寵物，實際是一個動物標本。Taxidermy領導著一大群動物標本們。這一群標本們一般會在Lenore和她的朋友們需要幫助的情況下出現。Taxidermy 本來會有自己32彩頁的漫畫，但作者表示在畫第9頁的時候便放棄了。他說這漫畫至今還在某個箱子裡等著他去畫完。
Pooty
Applewater 作為帶Lenore回到陰間的賞金獵人在第9期里出現。Lenore卻說服了他，並且成為了她的朋友，加入了之後的戰爭們。Pooty有一個看起來很像桶的小頭 (底下是另一個桶) ，他一般都會把三叉戟帶在身邊。
uffin Monster
Muffin Monster第一次登場是在Lenore的茶會 (第5期) 。沒有關於他的具體資料，不過他很可能會在以後的漫畫裡有很大的作用。

Lenore經常抱著一隻死掉的貓咪。貓咪在一開始並沒有死，不過Lenore會不小心把她所有的貓咪都殺掉。在某次她終於對貓咪第12號坦白了她對動物的各種殘忍。Lenore以受害者都是壞蛋的理由來證明自己是無辜的。在這個過程中她不小心用電風扇殺掉了一隻小兔，認定小兔看起來很熱，所以給她吹風。她也想這樣對待鼬，但她說它們“太快了”。
Undead Nazis
來自地獄的殭屍納粹士兵，不小心被Lenore從地獄放了出來。他們的任務是把Lenore帶回地獄。就在快要成功的時候，被變成吸血鬼的Ragamuffin和鄰居Taxidermy阻止了。這一幕可在第9期到第12期里見到。
Wicket Willowbean
Wicket是在第13期里出現的，他認定Pooty是自己的表兄弟。出現時是一個可怕的魔鬼，實際上和Pooty長的差不多，只不過帶著一個圓形的頭盔。
Ouchie Boo-Boo
在第10期里出現。 Ouchie Boo-Boo假扮成Lenore的姐姐來把Pooty和Lenore騙回陰間。實際上是個非常難對付的對手，不過還是在第11期里被Pooty殺了。
