創作背景
珍妮·傑克遜在發行《Dream Street》後脫離家族，隨後僱傭製作人吉米·詹姆·三世與特里·劉易斯 。珍妮回憶到，在她創作《Control》的時候，她在明尼阿波利斯的酒店外面被一群男人威脅，她描述當時的情形說：”當一群男人開始跟蹤我時，我覺得危險向我襲來。但是我並沒有退縮或者尋求保護，我鼓足了勇氣反抗，並讓他們退縮了。這也是我後來創作《Nasty》與《What Have You Done for Me Lately》這兩首歌的靈感所在，他們都出自於一種自我防衛的意識 。
