2013年11月26日，Lady Gaga所在的音樂公司Interscope宣布MV會整體打包在BitTorrent和Vice上發行，包括MV本身以及劇照、4K解析度的若干幕後片段，還有對Lady Gaga和導演Terry Richardson的訪談。但隨後，在和R. Kelly在Saturday Night Live（周六夜現場）上做出挑逗性的表演後，Lady Gaga在推特上推文稱：”好多人都在討論我和R. Kelly在周六夜現場上‘令人震驚’的表演，所以我開始覺得你們可能還沒準備好接受這首歌的MV“。
2013年12月4日，Lady Gaga發推文稱她期望將這個MV做到”盡善盡美"而且不同於她以前所有的嘗試，並稱內容“非常私密”。在MV並未如期發布以後，Lady Gaga在其專屬社交網站Little Monsters上聲明，公司只給她一周的時間準備和完成MV，就像Applause的MV一樣，而她希望有更長的時間來準備這個MV，以發揮出她的創造力。
但是在三單G.U.Y.的音樂短片發行後也再不見Do What U Want的MV蹤影。目前只有網傳由娛樂媒體TMZ泄出的一分鐘片段，MV片段非常惹火和挑逗，根據TMZ的報導，MV的取消原因有可能和R. Kelly早年的“兒童色情錄影帶”事件審判和幾名模特指控導演Terry Richardson性騷擾有關。

現場表演
• Gaga在第10季英國X音素上表演《Do What U Want》和《Venus》。這次演出被一些觀眾評論為“有傷風化”
• 2013年11月8日，在英國“The Graham Norton Show" 表演 《Do What U Want》
• 2013年11月16日，在美國“Saturday Night Live（周六夜現場）” 喜劇節目中，Gaga擔任了節目主持而且首次與R. Kelly同台表演《Do What U Want》
• 2013年11月24日，在洛杉磯“全美音樂獎”(American Music Awards)，Gaga 與 R. Kelly 表演了《Do What U Want》。表演中，Gaga化身以瑪麗蓮夢露 (Marilyn Monroe) 為靈感的一位白宮秘書，與飾演總統的 R.
