質子數和中子數互換的一對原子核稱為 。例如 Li（4中子3質子）和 Be （3中子4質子）。
如果將一個原子核中的所有質子換成中子，中子換成質子，就得到另一個原子核。這兩個原子核彼此互為鏡像核，如H和He互為鏡像核。
