本片是奧斯卡獎得主比利.鮑勃.桑頓(BillyBobThornton)，繼《彈簧刀》後，第二度自編、自導自演的電影。敘述克勞（BillyBobThornton飾演）和他太太露比（LauraDern飾演）這對歡喜冤家的故事。
他們非常恩愛，但也常吵鬧不休，似乎以互相折磨傷害，來補償彼此的怨懟。當克勞的叔叔海索被捕入獄的訊息傳來，他們回到小岩城的老家，想助他一臂之力。這龐大的家族重聚之後，三姑六婆也到齊，一切意料不到的事都可能發生……。

幕後製作
有趣的是，本片劇中人物的角色關係糾葛複雜，但戲外演員之間的情誼關係，也不惶多讓。如現實生活中，巨星約翰屈伏塔的演員妻子凱莉普萊絲登（《征服情海》）這回飾演“露比”（羅拉鄧飾演）的風騷姊姊“玫瑰”，片中“玫瑰”因為是“露比”老公“克勞”的前女友，使得每次“玫瑰”一出現，“露比”就要醋勁大發，慎防老公與老姊舊情復燃；老牌影星黛安賴德飾演“露比”嘮叨的媽媽“珠兒”，其實黛安賴德就是羅拉鄧的親生媽媽，這對母女檔演員，這回是繼《我心狂野》《激情玫瑰》後，再度於銀幕上飾演母女。
至於潔美李寇蒂絲〔《魔鬼大帝》、《月光光心慌慌》〕和影壇帥哥班艾佛列克〔《珍珠港》、《世界末日》〕，則飾演在小岩城開業的夫妻檔律師，片中潔美李的大女人強悍，對比於班艾佛列克的小男人窩囊，令人不禁聯想起當年曾在小岩城執業的另一對夫妻檔律師──希拉蕊與小柯。
