劇情簡介
彼得盧約瑟夫在戰爭中存活了下來，並開始了漫長的回鄉之路。然而，在他最終到達曼徹斯特時，發現自己並不是像英雄一樣凱鏇而歸——他的父母，奈莉和約書亞都是磨坊工人，然而在托利黨執政的政府開始增加徵稅後，甚至對一塊麵包都要徵稅，約瑟夫一家的生活陷入了窘境。
約瑟夫想盡辦法去找工作。像她的父母一樣，約瑟夫參加了工人集會，會上工人們要求在議會中增加工人階級的席位，要求更高的收入以及更好的生活條件。
