史蒂夫·邁納大學時期原本學習的是繪畫與雕刻藝術，畢業後卻進入電影圈，從事產品宣傳工作，後任教育片的製作助理。恐怖片《黑色星期五》的導演西恩．康納寧非常賞識他，於是他得以在1981年首執導筒，代替西恩執導了《黑色星期五》的續集，次年又導演了該片的第三部。1990年的《超速魔俠》（Warlock）獲布魯塞爾科幻影展觀眾票選最佳影片獎。1992年的文藝片《永遠年輕》以及之後的喜劇片《我父英雄》、《愛情特效藥》，成績亦都不錯。1999年執導的《極度凶鱷》，則成績不盡人意，除了賣弄電腦特技以外，沒有多少令人咀嚼的東西。演職員表
