Lady Gaga在接受採訪時稱，《Judas》的內容充滿了說教意味，歌曲的內容是關於一個女人一次又一次錯誤地愛上錯誤的男人。 歌曲的創作靈感源自背叛Lady Gaga的前男友，Gaga想把她的前男友比作背叛耶穌的猶大。而“猶大”來源於聖經，所以歌曲中有包含宗教內容的元素。 Gaga認為這首歌的含義是自己雖然朝著光亮的部分走，但一方面又與背後的惡魔親近，用來表達自己錯愛的經歷。

一位來自芝加哥的不知名女歌手狀告Lady Gaga，稱Lady Gaga的歌曲《Judas》抄襲了她的作品。這位名為Rebecca Francescatti的女歌手要求Lady Gaga就歌曲侵權作出賠償。最後法院駁回抗訴 。
