名稱由來
為了回響Bob Geldof的號召，由DIO的吉他手Vivian Campbell和貝司手Jimmy Bain發起了金屬界合作錄製一首歌曲的動機，樂隊主唱Ronnie James Dio和鼓手Vinnie Appice首先加入，於是Hear 'n Aid的組合成立。樂隊開始四處拉人，結果所到之處一片回響，最終在美國Los Angeles的DIO自己的錄音室里完成了歌曲Stars的錄製。
歌曲全長7分多鐘，前半部分為演唱，參與獨唱的包括Ronnie James Dio、Y&T的Dave Meniketti、Dokken的Don Dokken、Judas Priest的Rob Halford、 Queensryche的Geoff Tate、Blue Oyster Cult的Eric Bloom、Quiet Riot的Kevin Dubrow以及Rough Cutt的Paul Shortino，貝司部分由Jimmy Bain獨立完成。
鼓交給了DIO的Vinnie Appice和Quiet Riot的Frankie Banali，歌曲2分多鐘之後就是各位吉他手的輪番上陣，每人一段Solo，包括Iron Maiden的雙吉他Adrian Smith和Dave Murray，Night Ranger的Brad Gillis，Dokken的George Lynch，Blue Oyster Cult的Buck Dharma，DIO的Vivian Campbell，Giuffria的Craig Goldy,Twisted Sister的 Eddie Ojeda，Journey的Neal Schon,Quiet Riot的Carlos Cavazo以及Yngwie Malmsteen!其中個人比較喜歡Buck Dharma的那段Solo,雖然很短但是味道十足，看來大師就是大師啊!另外Yngwie獨奏的部分也不長時間，但是一耳朵就能把他從別人的Solo中分離出來，典型的新古典主義速彈。
歌曲的伴唱部分也是牛B的不得了，包括Motley Crue的Vince Neil（連獨唱的份都沒混上啊）和Tommy Lee，W.A.S.P的Blackie Lawless（這也是個超牛B的唱將啊）和Chris Holmes，Dokken的Mick Brown和Jeff Pilson，Leslie West（汗，吉他大師做伴唱），Ted Nugent（搖滾野人），Spinal Tap的Hubbins和Derek Smalls，以及著名Hard Rock牛人Carmine Appice。
