The sentence is said by Cicero who is the most distinguished orator and educator in Rome. This sentence prompt me (加to) do something shouldn't affectby（without effect of）appearance.

From paragraph（Paragraph）2-3, we know though（，as）people said （加，）appearance is less important, but in their action appearance will become an important element. For example, a beauty people（a beautiful person） can draw other's initial attraction（attention）. No matter man and woman, their action both(both去了) will affect by appearance.
