作者介紹

Tao Yuanming (365-427) was a great pastoral
poet, whose works had a profound influence on the
subsequent development of Chinese poetry. Con-
tained in this volume is a selection of poems
translated by Gladys Yang and Yang Xianyi
mostly when they were students at the University of
Oxford fifty years ago. The book is prefaced by
the late well-known scholar, Wang Yao, who
made significant contributions to the study of
classical Chinese literature.
