SOLAS 2014 Chapter III Part B Reg. 11.7:
An embarkation ladder complying with the requirements of paragraph 6.1.6 of the Code extending, in asingle length, from the deck to the waterline in the lightest seagoing condition under all conditions of trim of upto 10° and a list of up to 20° either way shall be provided at each embarkation station or at every two adjacentembarkation stations for survival craft launched down the side of the ship. However, the Administration maypermit such ladders to be replaced by approved devices to afford access to the survival craft whenwaterborne, provided that there shall be at least one embarkation ladder on each side of the ship. Othermeans of embarkation enabling descent to the water in a controlled manner may be permitted for the liferaftsrequired by regulation 31.1.4.
在船舷降落的救生艇筏的每處登乘站或每二處相鄰的登乘站均應設定一個符合規則6.1.6 要求的登乘梯，其單根長度在船舶縱傾至10°和任何一舷橫傾至20°的不利情況下可從甲板延伸至最輕載航行水線。然而，主管機關可準許用進入在水面上的救生艇筏的認可裝置代替這些梯子, 但船舶的兩舷均應設有至少一個登乘梯。第31.1.4條要求的救生筏可準許用能以受控方式下降至水面的其他登乘設施。
船舶救生用登乘梯應滿足《國際救生規則》第6.1.6條的要求，具備相應的長度。具體要求如下：
6.1.6 登乘梯
6.1.6.1 為確保從甲板到登乘梯頂部, 或從登乘梯頂部到甲板的安全通過, 應設有扶手。
6.1.6.2 登乘梯的踏板應:
.1 採用沒有節疤或其他凹凸不平外形的硬質木製成, 而且加工平滑並無銳利棱邊和毛刺, 或採用其他等效性質的適用材料製成;
.2 具有有效的防滑表面, 可以採用縱向槽紋, 也可敷鋪認可的防滑覆蓋物;
.3 長不少於480mm, 寬不少於115mm, 且厚不少於25mm, 任何防滑表面或覆蓋物不計;
.4 間距相等且間隔不少於300mm, 也不大於380mm, 並且其系固方法要使其保持水平狀態。
6.1.6.3 登乘梯每邊的邊繩應有兩根裸露的白棕繩組成, 其周長不少於65mm。每根邊繩在頂端踏板之下應為整根而無接頭。可以採用其他材料, 但尺度、破斷應力、風化性能、伸縮性能和緊握性能均須至少相當於白棕繩的性能。所有繩端均應扎牢以防鬆散。
