內容簡介:
湯姆透納是個一事無成的騙徒，在某次被捕後，法官給他二條路選擇：一是入監服刑：二是找份像樣的工作。為了不想吃免費牢飯，湯姆在郵局找了一份工作。在郵局裡，湯姆被指派處理一些無法投遞的信件（像是寄給貓王或是上帝的信件）。在拆閱讀信的過程中，湯姆發現世上有太多比他更不幸的人，於是他起了善心，在同事的協助下，對這些向上帝發信求助的苦命人回信，並提供金錢援助。由於“上帝”回信助人的事跡如雪球愈滾愈大，連新聞記者也加以報導，而最後湯姆和一群善良的同事卻因“未經授權回復上帝信件”被控，結果呢？
