注意事項
⒈ 最高級可被序數詞或 much，far(much的跟屁蟲）by far，nearly，almost，by no means，not quite，not really，nothing like，（rather不能修飾最高級）等詞語所修飾.
例如：This hat is by far/much/nearly/almost/not nearly/by no means/not quite/nothing like the biggest．

⒉ 表示“最高程度”的形容詞，如 excellent，extreme，perfect等，沒有最高級，也不能用比較級．
⒊ 形容詞最高級修飾作表語或介詞賓語的名詞、代詞時，被修飾的詞往往省略．
He is the tallest(boy) in his class．
⒋ 作狀語的副詞最高級前可以省略定冠詞．
例如：0f all the boys he came(the) earliest．
⒌ 形容詞最高級前通常要加定冠詞the，而以下幾種情況一般不需要加定冠詞the:
a. 形容詞最高級前有序數詞、物主代詞、指示代詞或名詞所有格等限定詞修飾時，最高級前不用the。
如： The Yellow River is the second longest river in China.黃河是中國第二長河。
b. 形容詞最高級在句中作表語而比較範圍又不明確時，最高級前不用the。
如： They are happiest on Saturdays.他們在星期六最快樂。
c. 如果兩個形容詞最高級並列修飾同一個名詞時，第二個形容詞最高級前不加the。
如： He is the youngest and tallest boy in his class.他是班上年齡最小、個子最高的男孩。
d. 如果形容詞最高級用來加強語氣，作"很；十分；非常"之意時，前面不加the。但形容詞最高級作單數名詞的定語時，可用不定冠詞a/an。
如： That book is most interesting.那本書非常有趣。
e. 作賓語補足語的形容詞最高級前不加the。
如： I found it most difficult to get to sleep.我發現入睡最難。
f. 在一些固定用法中，最高級前通常省略the。
如： With best wishes for you.向你致以最美好的祝願。
h .副詞的最高級與形容詞最高級的區別在於副詞最高級前可不加定冠詞the

拉丁語中
最高級表示“最”的意思。比如“大”的最高級是“最大”。
要合成形容詞最高級時，只要把它們的正常詞尾改成“-issimus,-issima,-issimum”就行了。舉例，“latus,lata,latum”的最高級是“latissimus,latissima,latissimum”；“gravis,gravis,grave”的最高級是“gravissimus,gravissima,gravissimum”。最高級變格全部採用第一和第二變格法的詞尾。
以gravissimus（最重的）為例，形容詞最高級變格和 1d-2d-形容詞完全一樣：
