簡介
1896年4月6日，當希臘國王喬治一世宣布第1屆奧運會開幕以後，希臘著名音樂家斯皮羅斯•薩馬拉斯指揮9個合唱團和250人演唱了這首由他作曲、抒情詩人科斯蒂斯•帕拉馬斯作詞的《奧林匹克聖歌》。悠揚的樂曲、悅耳的歌聲久久迴蕩在帕那辛尼安體育場上空，把人們帶入了緬懷古奧運會的輝煌和憧憬現代奧運會的美好的境界之中。
雖然《奧林匹克聖歌》在第1屆奧運會開幕式上大獲成功，但當時並未把它確定為奧運會會歌。而此後的歷屆奧運會則均由東道主確定會歌，並未形成統一的會歌形式。後來有人建議重新創作一首永久性的會歌，但幾經嘗試都不能令人滿意。於是，國際奧委會在1958年於東京舉行的第55次全會上最後確定還是用《奧林匹克聖歌》作為奧林匹克運動會會歌。從此以後，在每屆奧運會的開、閉幕式上都能聽到這首悠揚的古希臘管弦樂曲。
歷屆奧運會主題歌
○1912年斯德哥爾摩奧運會的《凱鏇進行曲》，義大利巴特雷米作曲。
○1932年洛杉磯奧運會的《邁向新生活》，捷克斯洛伐克蘇克作曲。
○1936年柏林奧運會會歌是由作曲家理察·施特勞斯譜曲的《奧林匹克之歌》。
○1948年倫敦奧運會的合唱《奧林匹克頌歌》，義大利比安奇作曲，管弦樂作品《奧林匹克交響曲》，波蘭土爾斯基作曲。
○1932年洛杉磯奧運會，1952年赫爾辛基奧運會，1956年墨爾本奧運會都採用了名為《奧林匹克讚歌》的主題歌曲，它們的作者分別是：美國的基勒，荷蘭的林加馬，旅法波蘭人斯皮薩克。
○1980年莫斯科奧運會的主題曲選自蘇聯著名作曲家肖斯塔柯維奇作曲的《節日序曲》中的主鏇律。
○1984年洛杉磯奧運會主題曲《衝刺》由義大利喬吉奧·莫羅德爾作曲。主題音樂是由作曲家約翰·威廉士作曲的《奧林匹克鼓號曲》。
○1988年漢城奧運會主題曲《手拉手》由義大利作曲家喬吉奧·莫羅德爾作曲，美國詞作者惠特洛克作詞。
○1992年巴塞隆納奧運會主題曲《巴塞隆納》也出自莫里科內之手，另一首奧運會會歌《永遠的朋友》，則帶有明顯的拉丁風格。
○1996年亞特蘭大奧運會主題曲《登峰造極》詞曲作者是伊斯特芬和沃倫。
○2000年悉尼奧運會主題曲《聖火》由蒂納·阿倫那演唱。
○2004年雅典奧運會主題曲《奧林匹克之夢》和火炬傳遞宣傳曲作者都是馬克西姆。
○2008年北京奧運會主題曲《我和你》。陳其鋼創作。由布萊曼和劉歡演唱。
