創作背景
廣泛認為這首歌曲創作起因是Axl Rose與前妻Erin Everly糟糕的婚姻，雖然這點從未在專輯或採訪中得到承認。樂隊的說法是這首歌是Izzy寫給他前女友Angela Nicoletti McCoy的。別的看法認為，其音樂MV表現的是普通男女之間破裂的關係。MV的場景是一家旅館，樂隊成員僅僅出現在幾個連貫鏡頭中，而其他人出場了更久，然後淡出。歌迷又有了新見解，由於Rose是現槍花僅存的原始成員，MV預言般地帶上了諷刺意味，MV片尾展現Rose獨自坐在家裡收看老槍花的錄影帶，氣氛悲傷孤寂。
該錄影帶由Nigel Dick執導，也是前鼓手Steven Adler最後一次出現的錄影帶（即使這首歌並沒有他的音軌），影片中的旅館不能使用，並在錄影帶拍攝結束幾天后拆除。

現場演出
《Patience》是槍花的保留曲目，自從單曲發行，只有為數甚少的演唱會沒有演奏它。現場演出中原聲吉他常常由電吉他代替，縱使這首歌曲沒有鼓的部分，Steven Adler和Matt Sorum依然在演出時充分使用架子鼓、鋼琴師Dizzy Reed靈活彈奏鍵盤。
《Patience》1992年東京的live版本被收錄在雙現場專輯《Live Era 87-93》中。演出同樣作為DVD發行，該DVD被分成兩部分而《Patience》在演出的上半場出現。
