英語前綴
ⅰ．前綴re-
re-是最常用的前綴之一。它可以加在名詞或動詞前面，構成新的名詞或動詞。re-表示以下三方面的意義：
1．表示"回"或"向後"的意思。例如：return（回來，返回）recall（回憶，召回）retract（縮回，取回）
2．表示"再"、"重新"、"重複"的意思。例如：review（複習）reunion（團圓，重聚）restart（重新開始）reconstruction（重建）
3．表示"相反"、"反對"的意思。例如：rebel（反叛，謀反）reverse（反轉，顛倒）resist（反抗，抵抗）
ⅱ．前綴de-與dis-
前綴de-來自拉丁語，意為"away from"，所以這個前綴的意義之一就是"離開"、"出"。它構成的詞有一定規律性，常表"離開"這一深層概念，而且常與介詞from等搭配，例如：dethrone（廢黜）
deport（驅逐出境）deduce（推斷） derail（脫軌）
delete his name from the list of members．把他的名字從成員名單上除去。
the train will depart from platform 2．這列火車將從2號站台發車。
另外，前綴de-還表示"除去"、"取消"以及"否定"、"非"、"相反"的意思。例如：decamp（撤營）decode（解碼）deforest（砍伐森林）decolonize（非殖民化） devaluation（貶值）
he has been degraded from public office．他已經被解除公職。
he descended from his taxi．他下了計程車。
前綴dis-與前綴de-同源，也來自拉丁語，原義為apart"分開"。dis-具有"不"、"無"的意思，所以加在某些動詞或名詞前構成反義詞。例如：dishonest（不誠實的）disappear（不見，消失）
disorder（無秩序，混亂）
dis-還表示"取消"、"除去"以及"分開"、"離"、"散"的意思。由這些意義構成的詞常與from等搭配。例如：
he discounted 15％from the price of a car．他把汽車價格打八五折。
don’tdistracthis mind from his work．不要分散他工作的注意力。
另外，dis-也可表示"相反動作"或加強意義，由它構成的詞也常與from等搭配，下面例子都表示"相反動作"。
disappear from the view 消失不見
he was discharged from hospital．他出院了。
ⅲ．前綴in-及im-，il-，ir-
它們像同胞四兄弟，都是表示否定的前綴。表示"不、無、非"等否定意義。
1．以字母b，m，p開頭的單詞，其否定前綴為im-。例如：imbalance（不平衡的）immoral（不道德的）impossible（不可能的）
2．以字母l開頭的單詞用il-；以字母r開頭的單詞用ir-。例如：illegal（不合法的）illogical（不合邏輯的）irregular（不規則的）irrelative（無關係的）
3．以其他字母開頭的為in-。例如： inhuman（不人道的）injustice（不分開的）inseparable（不可分的）incorrect（不正確的）
ⅳ．前綴ex-
ex-有兩個意義：
1．表示"出"、"外"、"由……中弄出"。例如：export（出口，輸出）extract（抽出，拔出）expel（逐出，趕出）
2．表示"前任的，以前的"。例如： ex-president（前任總統）ex-soldier（退伍軍人）ex-husband
（前夫）
ⅴ．前綴anti-
anti-表示"反對"、"相反"或"防止"。例如：antiwar（反戰的）anti-colonial（反殖民主義的）antifat（防止肥胖的） antimissile（反飛彈）
ⅵ．前綴macro-與micro-
macro-與micro-是一對意義相反的前綴，macro-表示"宏、大"；micro-表示"微"。例如：macroworld（巨觀世界） macroeconomics（總量經濟學） macroscale（大規模）microscope（顯微鏡）microworld（微觀世界）microele- ment（微量元素）
ⅶ．前綴trans-
trans-有兩個意義：
1．表示"轉變"、"變換"。例如： transport（運輸---從一地轉到另一地） transplant（移植）translation（翻譯---從一種語言轉為另一種語言）trans- form（使變形，改造）
2．表示"超過"、"橫跨"、"超"。例如：transcentury（跨世紀）transnational（跨國的）transcontinental（橫跨大陸的） transatlantic（橫跨大西洋的） guangao
tele代表從遠方來的.比如telephone,telegraph.
a-/an- == no; without; lack, amateur 不熟練的,業餘的, anonymous 匿名的, asocial 不好社交的, anechoic 消聲的, anharmonic 不和諧的, anarchism 無政府主義, acentric 無中心的, amoral 非道德性的, asexual 無性別的
a- == in; on; at; by; with;to, asleep 在熟睡中, ahead 向前，在前頭, abreast 肩並肩地, aside 在一邊, abed 在床上, abloom 開花
a-/an- == 加強意義, aloud 高聲地, aright 正確地, awake 喚醒, aweary 疲倦的, annotate 注釋, announce 宣布，通告 ab- == from; away from, abnormal 不正常的, abroad 國外的, abuse 濫用, absorb 吸去, abaxial 離開軸心的, abend 異常終止
ac- == at; to,或表示加強意義, accustom 使習慣, account 計算，算帳, accredit 信任, accompany 陪伴, acclaim 歡呼，喝彩, accomplish 完成
ad- == to; toward; forward, advice 建議, advocate 倡導, adjoin 臨近 adjust 調整, admixture 混雜, adventure 冒險
af- == at; to,或表示加強意義, affright 震驚，恐懼, affix 附加，貼上, affirm 肯定，確實
ag- == at; to,或表示加強意義, aggrandize 增大, aggravate 加重, aggrieve 使悲痛 amphi- == 兩、雙, amphicar 水陸兩用車, amphibian 水陸兩棲的, amphitheatre 兩邊都可觀看的劇場，圓形劇場

ex- == 表示使、做，或作加強意義, eXPurgate 使清潔, exalt 使升高，增高, excruciate 施刑，使苦
dis- == 取消、除去、毀, disorganize 瓦解, disroot 根除, discourage 使失去勇氣, disrobe 脫衣, disarm 解除武裝，裁軍, dishearten 使失去信心, disburden 解除負擔, discolor 使褪色。
特別提醒：英語中的前綴in-,un-通常表示“不”或“…的相反”的含義，因此由其構成的派生詞一般具有否定的意義。然而，有些由這兩個前綴構成的派生詞並非有否定的意義，而與詞根同義或近義。著名學者周海中教授在《in-,un-不一定表示“否定”》一文中就舉了若干個例子，如：coming/incoming(來到)，habit/inhabit(居住於)，loose/unloose(解開，釋放)，rip/unrip(撕開)等。這類派生詞雖然不多，但值得注意，勿望詞生義。
