作者簡介
秦希廉，安徽安慶人，1911年生。1933年畢業於前聖約翰大學英文系，1935年畢業於前燕京大學研究院。1935年－1987年間，先後在廈門大學、江蘇學院、蘇州大學外語系供職，歷任副教授、教授，曾任前東吳東大學外文系主任。
秦希謙教授從教長達52年之久。他熱愛英語教學工作，並編著、翻譯了五六本專著。退休後又集中精力從事英詩漢譯，同時陸續創作中文抒情詩。1994年獲得國務院頒發的高校突出貢獻獎。2000年入編《中國專家大辭典》。
