維吉尼亞.馬德森維吉尼亞-馬德森是影星麥可·馬德森(Michael Madsen)的妹妹，成長於芝加哥，在西北大學接受了表演訓練。是20世紀80年代中期最紅的明星之一。父母自小離異，作為曾獲艾美獎的紀錄片製片人的女兒，維吉尼亞青少年時首先在電視劇中飾演角色也就不足為奇了。她在芝加哥許多劇院工作過，隨後於1983年出演影片《神通情人夢》( Electric Dreams)。出道後星運一路順暢，片約不斷，但初期角色多為賣弄風情的妖姬壞女人，而她冷酷而經典的美招來非議，有人批評她更經常裸露身體而不是把重點放在琢磨演技上。在1987年的《Long Gone》中她曾一絲不掛俯臥在床上。1985年的《The Hearst and Davies Affair》中她扮演女演員Marion Davies，這一角色極富挑戰性，她的演技也得到了一個大飛躍。1992年，她出演恐怖電影《Candyman》，被很多人認為是代表了她演技的最高水平。隨著其閱歷不斷增長，出演的角色也豐富起來。2004年在影片《杯酒人生》中樸素節制的表演很有力量，獲得奧斯卡最佳女配角提名。
