小穗1個，頂生，雄雌順序，花密集或稀疏，雌花鱗片宿存或遲落；果囊寬卵形至寬橢圓形，脈不明顯，頂端急縮成一短喙；小堅果基部通常具退化小穗軸；柱頭3個。
本組除下列二種外，Kukenthal (in Engl., Pflanzenr. Heft 38, IV. 20: 86, 1909) 曾報導我國瀋陽產 Carex rupestris Bell ex All., 我們和東北草本植物志作者均未見到此種標本，附志於此，待日後訂正。
