"Stargate,一扇通向未來的星際之門。"
1928年，尼羅河畔，金字塔下，一個巨大的環形外星高科技傳送裝置的出土為人類打開了一扇通向外星世界的大門，還給了人類一個前所未有的機會去重新審視自身的來歷，並訂正教科書上的歷史，人類及地球的命運和進程從此完全改變，宇宙也因為有了地球人的參與而開始了一個全新的紀元！
《星際之門：SG-1》的故事緊接著94年《星際之門》電影之後，在電影的故事過去一年後，被擱置起來的星際之門突然被打開，一夥全副武裝的外星人從中出現並展開了一場小規模的襲擊，SG-1的故事由此開始.....
為了追查事件的根源並探索未知的世界，掌握星門的美國空軍組建了許多支星門小分隊，《星際之門：SG-1》的主角就是他們中最早也是精銳的一支：SG-1！跟隨SG-1小隊的四個性格各異、特色鮮明的精英級隊員——幽默風趣的隊長Jack O'Neill、考古專家兼古文字天才Daniel Jackson、美女物理學家Samantha Carter、以及富於反抗和自由精神的外星壯漢Teal'c，觀眾們將與之一道遊歷茫茫星海的諸多星球，感受一次次緊張刺激的武裝探險，以及，一場場險象環生的危機事件。
在無數次這樣的探險之中，人類逐漸成長壯大，了解了自己曾經被掩蓋的歷史，揭開了歷史上各種千古之迷，接觸了眾多各色外星種族，開展了星際間的外交、商貿往來，甚至發現了更高層次的智慧生命的存在！當然，不可避免的，他們也招來了各種強大而邪惡的外星敵人，為了保衛地球，隊員們用落後的地球武器但卻是靈活的戰略戰術與之展開了針鋒相對的鬥爭，在與敵人艱苦卓絕的戰鬥中，人類也結識了很多友好的外星種族，並與之聯合起來共同反對星際間的種種邪惡力量，在自身的努力以及可愛盟友們的幫助下，人類甚至學會了製造星際戰艦，並以之保衛地球和維護星際和平。
人類的成就全宇宙有目共睹！曾經，宇宙中有一個由四個先進強力種族組成的偉大聯盟，如今已經煙消雲散，但是，人類以其自身的頑強拼搏精神和蘊涵著的巨大潛力在大踏步地朝著當之無愧的“第五種族”奮勇前進！
《星際之門：SG-1》當前已經進入第10季，在殘暴專制的Goa'uld和貪婪變態的Replicator被推翻和消滅之後，一個偶然的失誤，隊員們撞上了有史以來軍事上最強大的種族——宗教狂Ori，它們決心討伐不肯信仰自己的銀河系，在第九季最後一集裡，銀河系聯合艦隊被四艘Ori的戰艦打得落花流水，而現在，第十季剛剛開始，隊員們將不得不搜遍銀河的每一個角落，尋找一個可能擊敗Ori的神秘武器，全銀河的命運危在旦夕.......
