生平
大學期間，布努埃爾對剛剛興起的電影產生了濃厚興趣，於是就到巴黎電影學院進行專門學習。畢業後不久，布努埃爾為電影語言探索者、法國導演 讓·愛普斯坦和馬里奧·納爾帕斯擔任助手。
1928年，在同鄉好友畫家薩爾多瓦·達利的幫助下，布努埃爾完成了自己的第一部影片《一條安達魯狗》，這部電影被認為是二十年代“超現實主義”文化潮流的一個重要標誌，也是 超現實主義電影的奠基之作。兩年後，布努埃爾再次以超現實主義風格拍攝了一部以性愛對抗世俗的影片《黃金時代》，其犀利的批判色彩惹得傳統衛道士們的恐慌。三十年代中期，超現實主義運動因幾位代表人物的分裂而告一段落，但布努埃爾電影創作卻沒有因此停滯不前，他重新審視了超現實主義與現實生活的脫節問題，回到西班牙拍攝了一部如實反映農民悲慘生活現狀的影片《 無糧的土地》。此後，超現實主義與寫實主義的結合成為布努埃爾畢生創作的基點，他的《白日美人》、《資產階級審慎的魅力》等名作都是這種風格下演化的經典。
作為一個激進的無神論者，布努埃爾的作品充滿了對宗教體制的腐朽和資產階級墮落的無情批判，他因此飽受統治階級的排斥和迫害。三十年代末期，西班牙佛朗哥專政上台之後，布努埃爾被迫離開祖國，前往美國紐約工作，幾年後定居墨西哥並在當地拍攝了《 被遺忘的人們》、《 毀滅天使》等十餘部影片。1964年後，布努埃爾將工作地遷移至電影氣氛濃厚的法國， 《女僕日記》、《白日美人》等經典即是這個時期的代表。1976年，七十六歲高齡的布努埃爾重歸故土，在西班牙拍攝了自己的收山之作《欲望的隱晦目的》，片中婦人縫補血衣的場景成為影迷至今探討不清的電影疑團。1983年7月，布努埃爾於墨西哥病逝。
西班牙電影導演，生於西班牙特魯埃爾省卡朗達鎮。1920年，布努埃爾創辦了西班牙第一個電影俱樂部。1924年，布努埃爾僑居巴黎，任法國先鋒派導演讓·愛普斯坦的助手，並在其創辦的電影學校學習。
