劇情簡介
鄧肯夫婦(格雷戈·金尼爾、麗貝卡·羅明-斯塔莫斯飾)唯一的兒子亞當(卡梅隆·布萊特飾)在一次意外事件不幸身亡，視子如命的鄧肯夫婦頓時失去了情感支點，恍如墜入無底深淵。現實終究無法逃避，兩夫妻開始著手安排愛子的葬禮時，一位遺傳研究醫生理察·威爾斯(羅伯特·德尼羅飾)走進了他們的生活，這位技藝精湛的人物大膽地提出了一項充滿誘惑力的建議——克隆亞當。
亞當的細胞肩負著新生命的源泉，克隆技術為複製亞當作出了技術儲備。背離了道德、法律以及倫理的約定，鄧肯夫婦偷偷搬到了Riverton小鎮，企盼著亞當的重生。一切出乎意料的順暢，逝去的生命再次降臨煩躁的城市，失而復得的快樂使鄧肯夫婦欣喜若狂，他們感謝威爾斯醫生的妙術，更感謝上帝的仁慈憐憫，小心呵護這新的生命成為了倍感重大的責任。平安的日子不知不覺度過了整整8年。亞當的記憶波瀾開始浮動，夢魘與驚恐時常伴隨左右，人格分裂精神戰慄的陰影自始盤旋，夢醒之日遙遙無期……

幕後花絮
