writing 8 for unit 2

ten ten ten

This part shows the narcissistic showoffs are different from competitive showoffs. They think they are unique and everyone else must draw[pay] attention to them.

In the first sentence of the tenth paragraph, I didn’t know why[加the author] used “bother”. In my view, it means interrupt. But I felt puzzled about the sentence. Maybe the meaning of the word which I thought was not correct. I asked my NCE teacher, and he told me that the word meant someone cared about something, not interrupted. In the second sentence, I puzzled again about “flag”. I only knew it meant a piece of cloth with a special color and pattern, and[加it] was used as a symbol of a country. It was obviously wrong because it was a verb in this sentence. That was to say [加that]the word didn’t fit the sentence’s structure. From my teacher’s reference, I knew its meaning-----become less intense. Meanwhile, I found there were many subjects and predicates in this sentence, and in the last part of the sentence the author uses “and”. So it was obvious that they were parallel structure. I also found a phrase----stand on their head. It fully shows the narcissistic showoffs use any ways to show off, especially do some funny things. They are so stupid.

At the beginning of the eleventh paragraph, the author uses two verbs---- “get” and “leave”. Why? In this sentence, there is “have seen”, so the author uses three verbs. After I consulted the teacher, I found out the answer ----see sb do sth. Because of a phrase----all of a sudden, I couldn’t understand the last sentence. My teacher taught me that the “all” was not separated from this phrase, and the phrase meant suddenly.
