古漢語中
古漢語中為了強調謂語，有時將謂語置於主語之前。這僅僅是因為語言表達的需要。例如：
1甚矣，\汝之不惠（慧）！（《愚公移山》）譯文：“你太不聰明了”
2安在\公子能 急人之困。（《信陵君竊符救趙》）譯文：“公子能為別人困難而急的地方在哪裡呢？”
3賢哉回也！（《論語七則》） 譯文：“顏回很賢德啊！”
4宜乎，百姓之謂我愛也！（《齊桓晉文之事》）譯文：“百姓認為我捨不得是應該的啊！”
語氣上通常都是表示感嘆的句子。
現代漢語中
1、“怎么了，你？”
2、出來吧，你們！
3、多么鮮艷啊，這件衣服！
英語中
1. 用於下面固定句型中時 主謂要倒裝
not only ...(主謂語倒裝)...but also...
hardly
} ...(主謂語倒裝)...when... }剛...就...；一...就...
scarcely
no sooner ...(主謂語倒裝)...than...
not until ...主句中主謂倒裝 （直到...才）
2. 當句首以下面這些界定副詞開頭時 用倒裝語序
never seldom rarely barely not little
few vainly(徒勞的) nowhere no more
3. 由 if 引導的條件虛擬句 如果省略 if 助動詞要前置於主語前
例： Had I had time , I would have gone to see him.
4. 當以 only 開頭時 主謂倒裝
only + 副詞
only + 介詞短語
only + 狀語從句+主句（主謂多倒裝）
5. 由 so 引起表示前面所說情況也運用於另一個人時 句子用全倒裝
由 nei 他 her nor 引起的表示前面所說情況也運用於另一個人的句子
用全倒裝
例 My brother is ill this week --so can i
He can't swim.--neither(nor)can i
6. 當 there here 置於句首 謂語動詞是
be exist walk stand go come remain seem lie為不及物動詞時 主謂倒裝
例 There goes the bell
Here comes Mary! (there he comes！）
(注意 如果主語是代詞 主謂不倒裝）
7. 下面這些介詞短語或副詞短語位於首時 要倒裝
no longer not for one minute
on no account (決不 切莫）
by no means
in no case }決不
in no way
in vain = vainly (徒勞)
not once
not even then
no more
nowhere else
under no circumstances
at no time }在任何情況下都不
on no condition
not for the whole world

8. 許多表示時間頻度的副詞置於句首時 主謂要倒裝
often many a time twile then now
例 Now comes your turn （現在該你了）
以外還有程度副詞 well
9. so…that 句型中的“ so *** ” 置於句首時 . So 介於從句主謂倒裝 .
（注意that 從句不要倒裝）
So well did he do in the exam that he was accepted without further test.
10.still （ much ） loss 更談不上 -- 後接一個從句時
still（much）more . . . -- . . . .

11. may 表示‘希望 ’ “ 祝願 ” 時 常置於其主語前

12. 句首為地點狀語 （帶有介詞短語時） 謂語動詞為

13.在主謂倒裝的句子中，謂語動詞的數應與其後的主語一致。如：
Between the two windows hangs a picture.
