ADSP與另外一個著名的德州儀器(TI:TexasInstrument)生產的晶片特點相比較,具有浮點運算強,SIMD(單指令多數據)編程的優勢,比較新的Blackfin系列比同一級別TI產品功耗低.缺點是ADSP不如TI的C語言編譯最佳化好.TI已經普及了C語言的編程,而AD晶片的性能發揮比較依賴程式設計師的編程水平.ADSP的Linkport數據傳輸能力強是一大特色,但是使用起來不夠穩定,調試難度大.
ADI提供的VisualDSP++2.0,3.0,4.0,4.5編程環境,可以支持軟體人員開發調試.

ADI
英文全稱（allowabledailyintake）每日容許攝入量。指人或動物每日攝入某種化學物質（食品添加劑、農藥等），對健康無任何已知不良效應的劑量。以相當於人或動物千克體重的毫克數表示，單位一般是mg/kg體重。在此劑量下，終身攝入該化學物質不會對其健康造成任何可測量出的危害。ADI值越高，說明該化學物質的毒性越低I
